DAI Labs Presents CanopyScope to Malawi Government and Proposes MoU for Forest Monitoring and Carbon Project Auditing

On February 2, 2026, DAI Labs met with the Ministry of Natural Resources in Lilongwe. The session was led by Patricia Wiskes, Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change, and Deputy Minister Chipiliro Mpinganjira, to conduct a formal demonstration and proposal of CanopyScope, our AI-powered environmental intelligence platform for forest monitoring and carbon credit project management.

The meeting was featured on the official Facebook pages of the Government of Malawi and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Climate Change, highlighting our collaborative efforts toward national climate action.

Accompanied by our local partner iRise Carbon, the session focused on how CanopyScope, specifically designed to monitor and verify Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), can provide high-resolution insights into forest dynamics and carbon storage. DAI Labs demonstrated the platform’s ability to leverage advanced geospatial analytics and satellite data processing with scientific rigor, offering a scalable solution to strengthen Malawi’s environmental governance and carbon market integrity.

Empowering National Sovereignty through Transparency

To support Malawi’s climate action for sustainable development and prevention of deforestation, as well as increased emphasis in the country’s participation in carbon credit trading, DAI Labs has formally proposed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Under this proposed partnership, DAI Labs will provide the government with free access to CanopyScope for monitoring carbon credit projects in the country.

A Partnership Built on Respect

During the meeting, Honorable Minister Patricia Wiskes emphasized that any partnership must respect national ownership, stating, “Malawi will lead. And our partners will support us in the direction set by the Malawian people and Malawian institutions.”

Bryan Atwood, CEO and Co-Founder of DAI Labs, shared his commitment following the demonstration:

“We are ready to work alongside the Government of Malawi. By providing AI-powered satellite data software, we aim to ensure that forest tracking is backed by scientific rigor and local insights. Our goal is to support the direction set by the Malawian people, ensuring that technology serves as a foundation for stewardship and responsibility toward their natural heritage.”

Looking Ahead

DAI Labs is eager to continue our collaboration with Malawian institutions. We look forward to finalizing the MoU and beginning this important work to protect Malawi’s forests and enhance the integrity of its carbon markets through robust Nature-Based Solutions.
